The Recycle Health New Mexico (RHNM) Program is a collaborative partnership between Green World Health Net and Project C.U.R.E. The purpose of this program is to recover medical supplies and equipment in the state of New Mexico and re-purpose these supplies to be utilized by hospitals and health clinics throughout the developing world.

Our work: We collected over 12 full tractor trailer loads of medical supplies and equipment in 2013 through the RHNM Program. This is an estimated 12 tons of recovered medical supplies/equipment that would otherwise have ended up in New Mexico landfills. Our goal is to collect 14 tractor trailer loads in 2014. This amounts to about 14 tons of supplies diverted from landfills that will end up a health institutions in developing countries and be used or reused for medical treatment.
Getting these supplies and equipment recovered in New Mexico into the hands of hospitals in developing countries is where Project C.U.R.E. comes in. Project C.U.R.E. receives the medical supplies and equipment collected by RHNM and transports them to their warehouse in Houston, Texas.
Supplies are then sorted and inventoried. Since 2000, Project C.U.R.E has shipped over 1100 containers of medical supplies to over 130 different countries and is ranked as one of the top 20 US non-profits by Forbes Magazine.
Building on Success: We estimate that RHNM currently captures around 15-25% of the recoverable medical supplies and equipment that are available from New Mexico hospitals and clinics. In the future we hope to increase outreach and raise the medical supplies and equipment recovery percentages in New Mexico to over 60% or higher.
